Notice on the Completion of Art Repository Wing of the Japan Art Academy
We are pleased to announce the completion of the new art repository wing of the headquarters of the Japan Art Academy. The headquarters of the Japan Art Academy was designed by Isoya Yoshida, and completed in 1958. In due respect to the design of the headquarters and pursuit of balance with the landscape from Ueno Park, we proposed a building design that would serve as a “background” for a stage. The façade design portrays a symbiosis between the historical building and the new building. The façade facing the headquarters is designed like a folding screen. Lights and shades of the façade under the morning sunlight would ceaselessly change, where they add a subtle expression to the new Japanese garden of the headquarters building. Though the repository wing is not open to public, exhibitions are held a few times a year by the Japan Art Academy. Should you have a chance to visit Ueno Park, please consider to stop by to see one of our latest projects.
