My exhibition presented in White Peaks R.B.G., Kew in London was the final event of Japan 2001 held for the past year in Britain. The theme of my exhibition, Eco-Architecture/Eco-Cities, conforms with the themes of past activities and research conducted at the Kew Gardens. The exhibition hall is divided into four sections. The following four city plans (Eco City plans) are displayed on the floor of each of the four sections.
1) Tokyo 2025 Eco City
2) Eco City on Lake Kasumigaura
3) Eco City plan for Astana, the new capital of Kazakhstan
4) Eco City plan for a new city in ZhengzhouThe walls of the four sections are divided into two parts representing two themes. The theme of one part is my Metabolism Architecture (Sustainable Architecture) from 1960 to 1975 and the theme of the other is my Eco Architecture represented by my recent works the KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport), the Oita Stadium and the Project for the Japan Centre at the Gunnersbury Park.

Kisho Kurokawa: Metabolism + Recent Work
curated by Kisho Kurokawa and Dennis Sharp
22.09.01 - 14.12.01 at Cube, Manchester, UKAs part of the Japan 2001 festival, Cube invited Japan's most celebrated architect today -Kisho Kurokawa- to present an ambitious exhibition examining a wide range of his architectural output. The exhibition commences with a review of the pioneering and innovative postwar phase, where he was involved with the Metabolists, through to his most recent developments exemplifying eco-media planning. Above all else the exhibition is about Kurokawa's unrelenting passion and thoughts on architecture fused with his philosophical ideas ? and in particular his philosophy of symbiosis which has established him as one of the world's leading thinkers on architecture.
